Patina Gallery: The Language of Color
June 5 through 28th
Patina Gallery is excited to present The Language of Color, an exhibition of the bold chromatic jewelry from collaborating artists Steven Ford and David Forlano. The Language of Color is the third exhibition of Patina’s 2015 Year of Couleur, a series of eight color-themed exhibitions.
Ford and Forlano are renowned for their jewelry technique, working in vibrant polymer clay which they fold and blend to create an intricate design. "Steve Ford and David Forlano’s work represents, to me, the single most transformative influence in the world of polymer clay. They have ennobled a material relegated to preschools, and have developed a design vocabulary as deeply rooted in modern art as it is in craft." -Ulysses Dietz, Chief Curator, Newark Museum. Inspired by seed clusters, shell formations, and flower buds, the works have individuality in shape as well as color. Tube-shaped necklaces speak of the more sculptural approach they have applied to their most recent collection.
